CLASSES are 2 weeks long, 40 hours a week.  Classes do not guarantee peer specialist certification.  Each person must take an EXAM to become qualified as a California Peer Support Specialist.  To apply for a class space, please emailExecutiveAssistant@mhcan.org with your name and a cover letter.  Classes are $500.00 per 2 week course of 80 hours, including access to books and your own IPS workbook.  Scholarships may be given. The course will span 80 hours, across two weeks, including a full training and certification in Intentional Peer Support as well as two days of experience at our drop-in center. The course will be led by experienced peer educators and an Intentional Peer Support Facilitator and will cover topics such as: group facilitation skills, trauma informed care, cultural humility, referral services and peer power dynamics.  




NOTE: Our in person training may require masks and 6 foot social distancing depending on the current reality of Covid.  Note to people allergic to cats: MHCAN has 2 resident cats but they are kept out of the training rooms at all times.
