Many faces, one faith- in each other.

We are a diverse group of people – artists, musicians, African-Americans, eccentrics, believers, genderqueer, elders, youth, people living with schizophrenia, teachers, transgendered folks, people with bipolar disorder, public servants, the differently abled in all of the challenging and blessed ways that we may be, business owners, people on SSI/SSDI, Anglo, ailurophiles, Buddhist, Christian, Taoist, gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight, Latino, Asian, atheists, parents, children, depressed, joyful  – united by our shared faith in the knowledge that we have gifts to offer each other and the world...

What we have in common is that we are all mental health peers- or have been- and although we all have differing experiences, many of us know what it's like to be medicated, to be hospitalized, to hear voices, to want to end our lives, to want to begin again- perhaps in a single day- and we know what it's like to be ourselves, in this sometimes cookie-cutter world, to be different.

The Mental Health Client Action Network of Santa Cruz County is a peer-run organization dedicated to providing mutual support and networking, to having a voice in all matters which affect us, to creating programs controlled by peers, to advocating for the rights to choose our own life paths, to educating the public from our own perspective, and to working to eradicate treatment disparities and confronting discrimination.
MHCAN provides a place of connection in the tumult of life. So come, put aside the cares of the week and find yourself in the presence of folks who really care.
